Coming Soon to a computer near you...
For the past two years I've wanted to start up a business, any business. I'm a very creative person or maybe I'm just cheap, but I enjoy taking a useless object and making it interesting. When I was going through the "nesting" stage with my second child I was planning on starting my own nursery decorating line because I had all these thoughts in my head of what I wanted for my kid's rooms and for my friends who were trying to decorate their nurseries. So I spent many hours doodling and designing but when it came down to me finishing my "surfer collection" bumper pads, let's just say the cushions have been put to better use. After that fell through I started designing women's t-shirts and I still kind of do that. I call this brand "Shanbug Designs." So far my grandma is my best customer because she bought 10 shirts that were specially designed for my aunts, cousins, sister, and mom. Shanbug designs will always be operating mostly because I really enjoy wearing them!
Well here is the latest venture. I think it was March of this year that my sister-in-law called me at about 10:00 PM (when I'm usually falling asleep) and brought up the idea that we start up a children's consignment store. Immediately I was doodling, thinking of a name, choosing colors to decorate the store with, researching stores, and I really didn't sleep much that night. Since then we agreed on the name Forever Little. The name came from a conversation that I overheard between my husband and our 4 year old daughter. He was saying that she shouldn't ever like boys and she responded by saying, " I like boys, cause they are cute." Oh boy, that's the wrong thing to say to a protective dad! Then he said, " I don't want you to grow up, just stay little forever." Well, we all know that a little food and those kids grow like crazy. It can get pretty expensive trying to keep your growing kids in really cute clothes. I've been so excited about our store because we get to help other mom's find cute clothes at great prices. We are also going to sell new products, perhaps some Shanbug t-shirts for kids too. Our online store is coming soon, we are busy stocking up on clothes, taking pictures of them, and getting them on the website. So check out foreverlittle.com in late June!
